When a tooth is infected or at risk of infection, root canal therapy can often save the tooth. Root canal therapy can be done proactively to prevent infection or retroactively to treat a tooth infection.

When underdeveloped or damaged root tissue allows bacteria to enter the root canal it can result in an infection. An apicoectomy removes the tip of the tooth root, cleans out the infected tissue, and places a cap on the end of the root to seal it off from further infection.

Symptoms of a cracked tooth are varied and may include pain when chewing, sensitivity to hot and cold food and drink, pressure sensitivity or a combination of these. Because the pain often comes and goes, it can be very difficult to recognize what is causing the problem.

After a root canal procedure has been performed on a tooth, a tooth may still become reinfected if the root canal was not complete. This calls for endodontic retreatment, which is essentially a repeat root canal.

Root resorption is the breakdown and loss of the root structure of a tooth. This occurs when living body cells attack part of the tooth. Root resorption frequently occurs because of a change in pressure on the surface of the tooth root.

An injury to the mouth can knock a tooth loose or out of place. It can also cause internal problems with a tooth that are unable to be seen right away. Prompt treatment after an injury improves the chances of saving the tooth.

When a developing permanent tooth is damaged due to trauma or decay, specialized care is needed to help a developing tooth continue to grow and form properly.

Internal tooth bleaching is a method of teeth whitening that operates from the inside, in contrast to conventional techniques, which focus on the external surfaces of the teeth. In comparison, typical whitening involves trays or external treatments, internal bleaching targets the inner parts of the tooth. This approach can lead to a brighter smile for those with healthy teeth.
